Known as the absolute quintessential flying boat, the majestic Boeing B-314 Clipper is an unmistakable icon of the flying boat era. Foynes, Ireland, well-known for its claim to fame for being the birthplace of Irish coffee during this time, served as an aviation hub between North America and Europe, and with the highly anticipated B-314 from PILOT´S, virtual pilots too can now recreate the many Atlantic crossings that made the fleet of Pan Am Clippers famous.
Although none of the original 12 Clipper aircraft were preserved, the inspiration to create this PILOT´S representation of the B-314, which over time will be developed to study level, is to allow this majestic flying machine to yet again take to the skies, even if just to the virtual skies!

Pilots did a fair job of putting it all together but where systems are concerned I am disappointed. They mention a "Study Level"-like experience but this is not what we are getting at all. You can follow a start up checklist or skip steps and it always starts up all the same.
You can run the engines as hard as you like as there is no danger of damaging them in any way. Thats a real shame because a lot of the appeal of these old beasts is managing engine systems. A lot of the fun is in needing to take care to apply power properly while being midful of temperatures and the likes. Thats a big miss for me and find it to be a real let down.
The sounds are fair to average overall but start ups sound sterile without any changes during and go directly to full idle and thats it.
No noticable special sound effects of any kind and in some cases switches or levers dont make a peep. These radials are poorly represented in both lack of engine management and sounds.
Mixture doesnt even really make any difference.
At least they added a reasonably modeled gyro pilot to help with long hauls.
It flies like id imagine a big hulk should. Rolls are slow but controlled. Elevators seem to overreact to input but that could be adjusted by tweaking some settings on my end if i really wanted to.
Overall its a nice aircraft that is somewhat enjoyayable to fly, but lacks any depth and fails to inspire me. I dont know if Ill keep it installed for long.
What missed opertunity by Pilots, its a real shame and the B314 really deserves better than just mediocrity.
