KHTS is everything we've come to expect of Verticalsim in 2023/2024. It's a well-modelled little airport — both airside and landside — with some great detail and pleasing terraforming. The inclusion of the Catlettsburg oil refinery on the approach to RWY12 is a welcome addition. Add the fact that the airport is in a rural and very beautiful part of the USA, and you have a decent package here. However there are two reasons I can't award 5 stars: the first being the very limited and rudimentary terminal interior (an area in which Verticalsim seem to have regressed lately). I can understand the performance benefit this might offer at larger airports but Verticalsim's own Provo features one of the best interiors I've yet seen — and that is a larger airport, with more surrounding detail. The second reason is the slightly high price for an airport of this size — at this price point, I'd expect a more detailed terminal interior.

This scenery is top-notch, bringing high-quality details to a lesser-known region of Appalachia, perfect for both general aviation and airliner operations. The attention to detail on both the air and landsides is impressive, and the dynamic environment truly stands out. The unique approach with the airport perched on a hilltop is a highlight. As always, Verticalsim delivers with excellence!

Absolutely stunning scenery! One of the best qualities about VerticalSim is that he locates airports that are both scenic and challenging in their own right, and provides incredible amounts of detail for us consumers, at virtually no cost in performance! Oh, and did I mention at incredible prices, too! HTS is no exception with the beautiful rolling hills surrounding the airport, coupled with the dynamic weather in this part of the country. Not only will we get summer time storms with unpredictable winds whipping about the hills, but in the winter this airport will serve as an absolute gem to look at under a fresh coat of snow. Whether I fly FedEx, Allegiant, or GA out of HTS, I'm excited for many flights to come.

Lastly, while many developers tend to pick out large(er) scale projects, its a breath of fresh air to find a developer who wants to highlight less known airports around the country, giving us all a chance to challenge our abilities, while enjoying the views each one of his unique airports offer, in many cases being able to approach an airport that's not within a concrete jungle. HTS adds to this list, and I look forward to the next one. If you haven't tried his airports yet, now is the time, no matter whether you fly Commercial, Cargo, or GA!
